Workshop Group
Comprehensive, professionally-equipped workshops at Marshall House, available to all members, with tooling, measuring equipment and expert help on hand.
Marshall House has extensive library and workshop facilities available to all members. The workshops, housed in the basement, are comprehensive, and there is almost always an experienced member nearby to lend advice.
Alongside the machines listed below, a wide range of tooling and measuring equipment is available for members’ use. Some special items are available for general use; members are encouraged to supply their own small cutting tools.
Equipment available
Turning
A range of lathes including a large Tong (1m between centres, 18in swing), 3 Myfords, an Emco Maximat 10 and a Colchester Chipmaster.
Milling
A range of machines including a Bridgeport BR212, a Myford VMB, a small Emco and a Webeco with DRO.
Grinding & finishing
We possibly have the most comprehensive grinding facility of all ME clubs. It includes a Jones & Shipman surface grinder, a Clarkson tool & cutter grinder, and several other specialist and non-specialist grinders and linishers.
CNC & CAD/CAM
CNC milling and routing facilities with access to CAD/CAM software.
Electronics
We are further developing our electronics workshop, which is available to members.
3D
The latest addition to our 3D workshop is a Bambu Lab H2D.
When we launch Phase 2 of the website there will be photos and videos of all aspects of the workshop.
The workshops are for all members. Access to the machines, tooling and library, along with attendance at lectures and training, often makes the journey to headquarters well worthwhile.
